THE ART OF SOL
At Sol Kantaré, jewellery is never just an object. It is a story carried in metal, a memory, a symbol, a becoming.
At Sol Kantaré, jewellery is never just an object. It is a story carried in metal, a memory, a symbol, a becoming.
Our pieces are shaped by ancient cultures and mythology, symbolism, lived experience and the beauty found in imperfection. From weathered architecture and objects marked by time, to the sea, sacred symbols and the natural world, inspiration is gathered from the places we encounter and the experiences that transform us.
At the heart of every design is a belief that jewellery can hold meaning beyond adornment. A kintsugi heart can speak of repair after breaking. An eye can become a symbol of protection. A serpent can represent the shedding of an old self. These ancient ideas are reimagined through a modern lens and woven together with stories of love, loss, growth, rebirth and return.
The result is jewellery created not simply to decorate, but to be carried, an extension of the soul, carrying its own story until it becomes part of yours.
Sol Kantaré jewellery is created in small batches rather than mass produced. This allows us to produce more thoughtfully, maintain closer attention to quality and reduce unnecessary excess.
Small-batch production also allows us to work closely with our artisan partners throughout the making of each collection, honouring the craftsmanship behind every piece while creating only what is considered and purposeful.
The materials we choose are considered for their beauty, strength and ability to bring sculptural forms and organic textures to life.
Every Sol Kantaré piece is designed and developed between France and Sydney, Australia, before being brought to life in close collaboration with our trusted artisan partners. Our pieces are handmade and hand-finished in small batches, bringing together traditional jewellery craftsmanship with the organic forms and details at the heart of each design.
Most Sol Kantaré pieces begin with brass, a resilient alloy of copper and zinc valued for its durability and its ability to be finely shaped and detailed. Brass is also a recyclable metal, allowing it to be recovered and repurposed rather than treated as a single-use material.
Our brass pieces are finished with 18k gold micron plating, applied in multiple layers to create depth, warmth and greater longevity. A protective e-coating is then applied as a final layer to help preserve the finish and provide additional resistance to moisture and wear.
Earring posts, pins and hooks are crafted from sterling silver, chosen as a quality precious metal for the components worn directly through the ear.
Many designs are set with genuine natural gemstones and carefully selected cubic zirconia, chosen for their colour, character and, in many cases, the symbolism they have carried across cultures and time.
Many Sol Kantaré designs feature our signature soft satin gold finish, intentionally more muted than highly polished gold. Inspired by ancient treasures, weathered surfaces and sun-warmed metal, it gives each piece the feeling of a modern relic, something discovered rather than newly made.
